Training, Training, and more training…

The last two weeks, I have had the opportunity to train over 75 teachers in two different schools.  We were able to learn, pray, and have fun together.  They were eager to gain ideas and learn how they can improve on what they already do.  We learned about ways to be a better teacher, like Jesus, the development process of children from Preschool-High School, how we can learn and teach eight different ways, and how to be more active in the classroom through team-building activities and cooperative learning.

Many of these teachers are passionate about reaching their students with the Word and planting that Word in their hearts. These are Christian schools that are reaching not only families in the church, but also families in the community.  One of the directors told me a story about a 4 year old girl in her Preschool. One day during snack-time the teacher realized this girl was not eating, even though she was hungry.  When the teacher asked her why her parents hadn’t sent a snack, she said it was because she prayed to Jesus at home.  In school, she had learned to thank Jesus before every meal and that she could pray to him at any time. When her father heard her pray to Jesus, he was very upset and punished her by not allowing her to eat for one week. The teachers and directors prayed for this girl and this family that God would sustain her and that the family would continue to send her to the school.  When the parents came to talk to the director about the teachings that were taking place at school, they were reminded of what kind of school they were and would not stop. The parents requested that she be allowed to stand off to the side by herself, while prayer was taking place in the class. She stayed the rest of the school year and continued to hear the WORD! Her family is allowing her to come back again this year.  Please pray for these families that come from the community and have no relationship with a church or with the Lord! Pray that the teachers be filled with the presence of God and be a vessel used to pour into the lives of these students and families!
I will continue to meet with other school coordinators and pastors in the future, as well as, do follow-up in these schools in the next couple of months.  Your prayers and support are making it possible to reach out to these schools, families, and communities! Merci beaucoup!!Thank you very much!!
